Download

Improved

  • New icons throughout the app, sharper at every size.
  • Core details in the status bar show uptime, memory and recent slowdowns at a glance, with Restart Core and Task Manager below.

Fixed

  • A failed update check says why in one short line, instead of a wall of error text in Settings.

0.32.2

Download

Improved

  • A downloaded update is replaced when a newer one comes out, and Restart Now checks for one first.
  • If an update ever fails to start, cmd finds and installs a fixed version by itself.

0.32.1

Download

Fixed

  • The app opens again: version 0.32.0 quit at launch with a JavaScript error.

0.32.0

Download

New

  • Browser inspector. ⌥⌘I opens the developer tools for a web page, beside it or inside its window, in your cmd theme.

Improved

  • A new window opens right after the one you opened it from, and closing a window selects the next one, like tabs.

0.31.0

Download

New

  • Quick Commands. Save commands, prompts and links, then run them from the palette, Session → Quick Commands or their own shortcut. To start a coding agent, add one that runs it, like claude.
  • Show Sidebars. ⌥⌘S hides all of a workspace's sidebars and brings the same ones back. Attach any window as a left or right sidebar.

Improved

  • Switching views, opening large folders and long Markdown, and running many agents at once are smoother.
  • Settings opens almost instantly after the first time.
  • On your phone, a terminal keeps your Mac's size until you choose Fit to This Phone.
  • On your phone, the prompt stays in view with the keyboard up, and a button jumps back to the latest output.
  • Your phone reopens on the terminal you had open.

Fixed

  • Your phone no longer gets stuck on Connecting… after switching networks.

0.30.0

Download

New

  • Now Playing widget. Shows the cover and track your Mac is playing, with play, pause and skip, and a bar you can drag to seek.

  • The workspace switcher's menu and the Workspace menu list workspaces in the same order, with ⌃1–9 reading down the list.
  • File → Open Recent lists the workspaces you closed recently.
  • A long path a program wraps over several lines opens with one ⌘-click on any of its lines.

Fixed

  • Names in narrow tables, like Live Diff's file list, end in an ellipsis instead of running into the text beside them.
  • Closed terminals in the Navigator's Recent no longer show an agent's spinner in their title.
  • The strip no longer shows a scrollbar under its page dots.

Removed

  • The New Claude Session and New Codex Session commands: open a terminal and type claude or codex instead.

0.29.0

Download

New

  • Agent integration. Agents in your terminals can know they run in cmd and use its tools to open files, pages and terminals for you. Turn it on in Settings → Agents.
  • Approvals. When an agent asks to do something, cmd asks you right away on one sheet: allow once, for the session or always. Choose per kind of action in Settings → Agents → Permissions.

Fixed

  • Closing a workspace while a dev server in it starts up no longer makes cmd stop.
  • Closing a Magic widget while it builds no longer makes cmd stop.

0.28.0

Download

New

Improved

  • Live Diff opens a file's diff in a pane below the list, side by side or unified, with the changed words marked.

Fixed

  • Many terminals with fast reloads no longer run cmd out of memory.
  • Scrollbars line up with their window at every zoom in the free-form canvas.
  • Run Last Action Again opens the Actions widget instead of failing when that action's workspace is closed.

0.27.2

Download

Fixed

  • Magic widgets no longer sometimes stay empty after you allow their media.

0.27.0

Operator, an assistant that works your workspace while you watch.

New

  • Operator. Ask Operator… (⌘J) starts agents, runs commands, reads pages, edits files and arranges windows while you watch. It asks before every step that changes something.
  • Operator conversations. Conversations get a name, and Past Conversations in Operator's toolbar brings one back.
  • Always allow. Approve one kind of Operator step for a workspace or a site once, and forget it again from Remembered Approvals.

Stats on how you and your agents work, notifications on your phone, and far less disk space used.

New

  • Stats. A widget shows how you and your agents used cmd: agent time, turns, commands and what failed, tokens and commits. Add it from the Widget Library.
  • Notifications on your phone. A paired phone gets cmd's notifications, by default only while you're away from the Mac. Choose when in Settings → Remote Access.
  • Getting Ready. When an update needs a moment to prepare your records, cmd shows what it's doing and how far along it is.

Improved

  • Your records take much less disk space: cmd keeps less of what tools printed, and slims older records once after this update.
  • Windows and lists have roomier, more even spacing.
  • List rows glide into place as they move, and sections fold smoothly.
  • Forgetting a session or project also removes the journal days, summaries and stats made from it.

Fixed

  • Timers ring on time after the Mac wakes from sleep.
  • A phone on a slow connection catches up instead of being disconnected during heavy terminal output.
  • Asking for a summary again keeps your edits to it.

New

  • Reopen closed windows. ⇧⌘T brings back the last window you closed, in its place. The Navigator lists recently closed windows too.
  • Video window. Videos play in their own window with speed, loop and a scrubber. Trim one and save the kept part as a copy.
  • Render a jam to audio. Jam saves the first cycles of your pattern as a WAV file while the music keeps playing.

Fixed

  • ⌘↑ in the Files window goes up one folder, not two, right after ⌘↓.

New

  • Direct remote access. Phones can reach your Mac through Tailscale or your own URL instead of the hosted relay. Settings → Remote Access walks you through it.

  • Links to other apps or scripts ask before they open.
  • Magic widgets reach the internet and your files only as far as you allow.
  • The Files window shows hidden files and sorts by any column.

  • Sheets, menus, popovers and toasts fade out instead of vanishing, and list rows glide when they re-sort.
  • Windows go back where they were when you dock or undock your Mac.

  • Closing a YouTube window no longer reports a crash.

Browser windows say why a page didn't load, and the sidebar says where each agent works.

New

  • Pages that don't load say why. Browser windows say when you're offline, no server answers or the address is wrong. Continue Anyway opens a site whose certificate this Mac doesn't trust, for good.

Improved

  • The sidebar says where an agent or terminal is only when that differs from its Space: a worktree's branch or another project's name.
  • A Space whose folder was removed says so in the switcher and the picker, which shows a project's worktree Spaces together.
  • cmd ls and cmd search say which folder and branch each agent, terminal and session is in.
  • File search leaves out other checkouts of the same files inside the Space's folder.

Fixed

Fixed

  • An empty Space shows a few shortcuts worth knowing, such as ⌘K for the command palette.

  • The browser's address bar shows just the site and page until you click into it.

  • Notifications about finished agents no longer arrive late with OpenAI models.

Removed

New

  • New Magic widgets read like terminal panes: one text size, a status line and aligned rows in side-by-side panes that fit any window size.

Improved

  • The sidebar has a little more padding by default.

0.3.7

Download

Improved

  • Text fields have a softer focus ring, and the find panel, placeholders and checkboxes follow the theme.
  • Settings → Appearance sets the sidebar's padding.
  • New Magic widgets are flatter, with content straight on the background instead of boxed in cards.

New

  • Send feedback. Help → Send Feedback… or the button in the status bar sends a note straight to the developer.

New

  • Where links open. A setting picks whether links in Magic widgets, Markdown and browser pages open in a cmd browser window or your default browser.

Fixed

  • Open in Default Browser works again.

0.3.4

Download

Fixed

  • Clicking a link in a Magic widget opens a browser window instead of blanking the widget.

0.3.3

Download

Improved

  • ⌘⌫, ⌘← and ⌘→ delete the line and move to its start or end in terminals, like other macOS terminals.
  • Settings → About shows update checks, download progress and a Restart to Update button.
  • Right-click a Magic widget → Refresh Every to set how often it updates.

Fixed

  • A Magic widget that is rebuilt no longer misbehaves because of its earlier version's scripts.

Fixes to how cmd is built and released.

0.3.1

Download

Fixes to how cmd is tested before release.

0.3.0

New

  • Untitled text windows. File → New Text Window (⇧⌘E) opens an empty text window. ⌘S saves it to a file, and closing it with unsaved changes asks first.
  • Logs and crash reports. cmd keeps logs in ~/Library/Logs/cmd and sends crash reports with home folders hidden. Turn sending off with diagnostics.crashReports.

Improved

  • The Settings window is reorganized into pages like Appearance, Terminal and Agents, and keyboard shortcuts are recorded by clicking them.
  • Changing a Magic widget remembers every earlier request, and a widget in a Space knows its project folder.

0.2.7

Download

Improved

  • Magic widgets use the provider, model and API key you choose in Settings, from Anthropic or OpenAI.
  • A Magic widget shows only once it is drawn with its data, and Change, Refresh and Stop are in its right-click menu.

0.2.6

Download

New

  • More agents in search. Search finds Qwen Code and Copilot CLI sessions, and archived Codex sessions.

Improved

  • A ring in the search field shows indexing progress, and Settings → Search can rebuild the index.

0.2.5

Download

New

  • Updates. cmd installs new versions from GitHub in the background. updates.mode can only notify you or turn checks off, and cmd → Check for Updates… checks now.
  • About in Settings. Settings → About shows the version, update status and cmd's processes, with buttons to restart, open logs and copy everything for a bug report.

Improved

  • The app is signed and notarized, so it opens without right-click → Open.
  • ⌘↩ toggles focus from any view, and the strip returns to where it was.
  • Copy Resume Command uses your configured agent command and config folder, and search finds sessions in more places.

0.2.4

Download

New

  • Media in Magic widgets. A widget can play audio and video or load images from sites you allow.

Improved

  • The strip scrolls natively, with macOS momentum and bounce.
  • Switching Spaces slides the sidebar, and the Space switcher shows each Space's name on hover.

Fixed

  • Reloading the app no longer garbles Claude Code and other full-screen programs.

0.2.3

Download

Improved

  • The strip scrolls freely, without snapping, and has a real scrollbar.

0.2.2

Download

Fixed

  • The installed app starts again, which it couldn't in 0.2.0 and 0.2.1.

0.2.1

Download

Fixed

  • Magic widgets follow theme changes, including ones that draw on a canvas.

0.2.0

Download

New

  • Magic widgets. Press ⇧⌘M and ask for what you want to see, and an agent builds a live widget for it in your theme. It refreshes on its own without calling the model.
  • Spaces. A Space is a folder you work in, with its own terminals, agents and windows. Open a folder to switch to its Space; the others keep running.
  • Liquid Glass icon. cmd has a new app icon.

Improved

  • Clicking and sideways scrolling work over browser windows and Magic widgets like over any other window.
  • Windows take their places at launch without gliding in.

Removed

  • The Tools section in the sidebar.

0.1.0

Download

The first release.

New

  • Terminals and agents side by side. Terminals, browser, file, text and Markdown windows sit on one desk, arranged as a grid, a strip, a canvas or focused on one.
  • Agent-aware terminals. Claude Code and Codex are recognised in any terminal, and the sidebar puts the ones that need you on top, with notifications and a Dock badge.
  • Terminals keep running. Closing or reloading the app never ends your terminals.
  • Session search. Search every past Claude Code and Codex session, and resume one.
  • The cmd command line. Run open in a shell to open a file or folder on the desk, and use cmd to start, read and message agents.
